ACADEMIC STUDY

In this monochrome study, the figure is caught in transition — neither confronting the viewer nor fully withdrawn. The head turns, the shoulder softens, the gaze drifts beyond the frame.

Graphite, tone to replace colour. Light is built through pressure and release; shadow is smudged into atmosphere. The edges dissolve, leaving the figure emerging from — and returning to — the paper itself.

The crossing fabric at the chest anchors the composition, while the neck and jaw carry quiet tension. It is a study not of anatomy alone, but of interior pause.
