Created from direct observation, this work captures the fortified citadel of Calvi rising above the Mediterranean. The angled rampart draws the eye upward, guiding the viewer from sea level to sky.

The pastel medium allows to render both the weight of sun-struck masonry and the atmosphere of distance. Warm ochres and terracotta tones contrast with deep ultramarine waters, producing a vivid dialogue between structure and openness.

The work reflects a moment of stillness — heat, salt air, and the quiet endurance of architecture.
